Katie has one of those sunny smiles that just makes her glow.  And she was smiling and glowing all day (even though the copious amount of rain leading up to the wedding day prevented her from having the ceremony outside).  I love weddings at the Dresser Mansion and Katie’s was no exception – everything was just perfect.  Thanks for allowing me to be a part of your wedding day!  Watch the slideshow of their wedding day here:  Katie + Randy

When we decided to change our travel plans from Cabo after the flu pandemic, I was hesitant to believe what I read about Aruba.  Perfect weather year round, friendly people, awesome beaches, festive night life.  I mean, the travel sites and literature all say that about every place, right?  Well, I tempered my expectations and hoped for the best.  I’m usually not one to blabber on and on about much of anything, but Aruba?  I could blabber on for hours.  What an unbelievable island. It surpassed my wildest expectations and was better than I had read it would be; perfect weather, friendly people, awesome beaches, and a festive night life.  The island is arid and only receives about 17 inches of rain per year.  The 17 mph tropic breeze cascades across the island 24 hours a day creating a day time wind chill of 85 degrees.  Perfect.  the staff at the hotel we stayed in were awesome, and when we ventured off the hotel property, we were greeted with smiles everywhere we went.  Perfect.  The fine white sand beaches that ran the length of the south side of the island gently led to the calm blue green ocean.  I didn’t get the chance to go diving or snorkeling, but the people i talked to that had said the corral reefs were crystal clear and majestic.  Perfect.  After a day of sun, sand, and surf you could head to the shopping and entertainment district and partake in the island’s dutch Caribbean cuisine, shop locally made crafts and jewelry, and imbibe in a few vacation cocktails before a final walk on the moonlit beach.  Really, it was that good.

I only took my camera out a couple of days – hey, I was on vacation! – and I am already making plans to go back.  Anyone getting married in Aruba and want to make a deal?

I’m leaving in a few short hours on a trip my wife and I have been planning and looking forward to for a long, long time. It’s our 10th anniversary, and not soon enough we will leave the rain behind and be sipping cool refreshing adult beverages on the powder white beaches of Aruba. No kids, no work, all play. I’ll be back in week so be patient if you try to contact me and I don’t get back right away!
